How to properly prepare your MATCHA drink?
Don't be afraid to change the proportions to suit yourself, everyone tastes a little different and only by trying will you find "your" favorite version.
✨ Before you start preparing your matcha, soak your chasen – a bamboo whisk in water to activate it (bamboo fibers need to soften before use) and work properly.
HOT MATCHA LATTE:
-
Please 2-3 g of matcha in a tea bowl, or chawan . (If you are just starting out with matcha, I recommend starting with 2 g.)
-
Pour 35–40 ml of water heated to 80 degrees into a bowl. (This is really important if you water the matcha hot with water, so it you will burn .)
-
Take activated (soaked) chasen – bamboo whisk – and whisk the matcha in a zigzag pattern (M, W, Z with your wrist) until a thick foam forms on top.
-
Pour 100 ml of plant-based milk into a jug or glass and whisk it into a warm foam.
-
💡 Robcha's tip: If you are just starting out with matcha, use 150–200 ml of milk. The taste will be less pronounced. Over time, experiment with different ratios and you will definitely find "your" favorites.
-
Pour the matcha from chawan into a mug and pour over whipped milk.
-
Now just inhale, exhale and enjoy your heavenly matcha moment. ☁️
ICED MATCHA LATTE:
-
Please si 4 g of matcha in a tea bowl, or chawan .
-
Pour 40–50 ml of water heated to 80 degrees . (This is really important if you water the matcha hot with water, so it you will burn .)
-
Take activated (soaked) chasen – bamboo whisk – and whisk the matcha in a zigzag pattern (M, W, Z with your wrist) until a thick foam forms on top.
-
Put ice in a glass and pour 150 ml of plant-based milk to taste.
-
Pour the prepared matcha over the milk.
-
Now all you have to do is mix everything and enjoy a GODLY drink. 👼🏻
MATCHING:
My personal favorite.
-
Please 1.5 g matcha to chawan .
-
Pour 40–50 ml of water heated to a maximum of 100°C into the bowl. 80 degrees . (This is really important if you water the matcha hot with water, so it you will burn .)
-
Take activated (soaked) chasen – bamboo whisk – and whisk the matcha in a zigzag pattern (M, W, Z with your wrist) until a thick foam forms on top.
-
Pour the matcha into a mug and add 200 ml of water (80 degrees).
-
✨ If it's too strong for you, you can add water to taste until the concentration suits you.
-
Now make yourself comfortable and let yourself drift away on a jasmine matcha cloud.
💡 Did you know that Robcha matcha is sweet and tastes like jasmine? It's thanks to the volcanic area in which our matcha is grown that it is so unique and special.
Robcha Tips at the end:
-
If you don't have a kettle at home that monitors the temperature, nothing happens. Boil water on the stove, and once bubbles start to evaporate from the bottom, the water should be heated to the ideal temperature. /You can also use a kitchen thermometer/
-
If you're making an iced matcha latte, you can make it really simple and pour the matcha powder into a shaker or any sealable bottle, along with cold water and ice, and blend until you see that the matcha is lump-free, beautifully smooth. Then just pour it over a fresh batch of ice and milk in a glass and you're done.
-
Ideally, don't use animal milk. It won't affect the taste, but the protein called casein found in animal milk will prevent the antioxidants from matcha tea from being absorbed into your body, meaning you'll get almost none of the matcha benefits.
